That's what quartz stands for and ultimately hopes to bring to Christ and to many women that choose to read this. As always, Christ has a story here.
One day several years ago while driving my little green 2-door escort (the first car I ever bought and owned all by myself!) to work in downtown Jacksonville, I heard God say study quartz rocks. I was reading Elizabeth George's, "A Woman After God's Own Heart" and one of the things that stuck out to me was become an expert in a few things (the 5 file folder concept). So, not being a science girl (I prefer English much more!), I thought I was going out of my mind. I didn't like to even get dirty, but now God was asking me to study rocks. Made no sense to me, but I did it anyway. What I learned transformed the way I look at my relationship with Christ.
You see the process starts in the center of the Earth with the hot magma. As it flows out of a volcano, the heat mixing with the cooler air makes condensation or water beadlets or sometimes streams of water. The water mixes with the magma and as the magma cools, the magma forms a rock and the water forms crystals on the inside.
I believe that God gave me this picture of our relationship with Him. We go through hot, refining times. He is always with us (remember, He is the living water). His beauty is reflected from the inside out.
So, here are my questions to you. Write down what others say is beautiful about you. Write down what you say is beautiful about you. Write down what God says is beautiful about you.
Be bold! Be brave! Be you!

Oh how important it is to remain focused on Him! What others consider beautiful about me? Well, I view life with the glass always half full and remain optimistic. What I consider beautiful about me? My willingness to take on life's challenges as God places them in my path, trying always to consider others before myself. And, what God considers beautiful about me? My commitment to Him and His ever faithful assurance that "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Philippians 4:13
Keep turning fear into faith as we take each step toward our eternal home with Him. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
Well, I don't mean it to be cliche'
Not in the least... I respond with Bethany Dillon's song Beautiful:
I was so unique
Now I feel skin deep
I count on the make-up to cover it all
Crying myself to sleep cause I
cannot keep their attention
I thought I could be strong
But it's killing me
Does someone hear my cry?
I'm dying for new life
[Chorus]
I want to be beautiful
Make you stand in awe
Look inside my heart,
and be amazed
I want to hear you say
Who I am is quite enough
Just want to be worthy of love
And beautiful
Sometimes I wish I was someone other than me
Fighting to make the mirror happy
Trying to find whatever is missing
Won't you help me back to glory
[Chorus]
You make me beautiful
You make me stand in awe
You step inside my heart, and I am amazed
I love to hear You say
Who I am is quite enough
You make me worthy of love and beautiful

His love is amazing!! and in Him, as the result of Him, and for Him I have the opportunity to be amazing too :)
The hardest thing I'm finding to remember about my relationship with Jesus is this:
It is not about what I do, think, feel or even believe. He loves me and thinks I'm beautiful no matter what. It is nothing I can earn or do more to get more. His love and adoration just is. It's a "just because" thing. I'm so thankful for that example of grace. Thank you, Jesus -- just for loving me and calling me beautiful. WOW!
